Deep Tissue Massage

Rates: $100/hr. $150/90min.

‘Deep Tissue Massage’ is a term that has been used mostly for marketing for a specific massage technique utilizing heavy pressure. The aim of ‘deep tissue’ is to break up chronic patterns of tension in muscles. As the tension is diminished the muscles and surrounding fascia lengthen then reorganize along optimum patterns.

Deep tissue is similar to the common relaxation massage (Swedish massage). While with Swedish the pressure goes light to moderate, with deep tissue it is used deeper or intense pressure that is concentrated on trouble areas, targeting deep layers of muscles and soft tissues in the body. It’s not uncommon to feel some pain or discomfort while receiving this treatment. However, should it become unbearable at any point, please don’t hesitate to let me know and I would lighten up the pressure to your comfort level. There is usually some soreness after getting deep tissue massage but this will lessen within 2 or 3 days.

Difference between deep tissue and neuromuscular therapy sessions:
In both techniques, the pressure is very deep and intense. However, in the deep tissue session, I usually work the whole body using deeper pressure on areas of tension but without spending too long on these areas. On the other hand, during a neuromuscular therapy session, I don’t usually work the whole body but I concentrate the whole session only on trigger points or areas of hypersensitivity that causes pain, numbness, tingling or postural distortion in the body.

Rates: $100/hr. $150/90min.
